Notes of Civil Society Forum Meetings

In order to join OGP, Ireland must submit a National Action Plan (NAP) conjured up with input from citizens and civil society. Since Ireland announced its intention to participate in the OGP (May 2013), a group came together –comprised of ad hoc members of civil society – to encourage Irish participation in the OGP and to ensure the high value of Ireland’s first NAP.

On January 30th, 2014, the group agreed to continue to meet as a Civil Society OGP Forum, to provide a space for information sharing, co-operation and wider discussion of Ireland’s OGP Action Plan as it developed. Some volunteers agreed to attend the Joint Working Group meetings with officials to work on Ireland’s draft OGP Action Plan, and to report back to the Forum.

From February to April 2014, the Civil Society Forum held regular meetings to discuss the expectations and implications surrounding the OGP and the Irish NAP. The Draft Summary notes of these meetings are below.
